The Challenge
We believe that we can do so much more for our children. As the world has grown closer - and become richer for it - we have become more polarised. The divisions between countries are now felt within countries. And we want to do something about it.
Most policymakers know that our current educational model is not fit for purpose in the 21st century (OECD Skills 2030; WE Forum; UK Education Committee) and yet, we stick to the same old ways of doing things even as our challenges become more manifold and manifest.
We want to do things differently. We know we can. We just need to start earlier, educate differently and help our children understand that there is a world out there that needs our help.
Language Learning
How do we engineer creativity, compassion and confidence? How do we change the way we think about the world? The answer, for us, lies in language and culture. Bilingual and bicultural immersion, specifically.
Research proves that it enhances cognitive development in all of the areas that the experts now say we need if we are to evolve through the age of Robotics & AI It strengthens:
- Creativity and fluency of ideas
- Cultural compassion and empathy
- Confidence in communication
- Compatibility and adaptability
- Critical thinking and analytical reasoning
- Concentration and attentiveness
- Capability and agency
It presents the opportunity for children to develop the foundations for all the social and cognitive skills we need to face up to this future and meet it head-on and, if we’re intelligent, fluent in a language that matters for the future.
Start Early
We believe that, if we want to create the kind of change we need, we have to start early. 90% of brain development in children occurs in the first 5 years of life - it is defined as the “Critical Period” in our learning and when we stand an optimal chance of learning skills, language, knowledge and values.
If it’s done well, it can have such remarkable impact on a child’s future and on society as a whole (so says a Nobel Laureate!), significantly improving future academic performance and social interaction.
But so often it’s not. 200 million children are estimated to not reach their full potential due to a lack of investment in early years education around the world, losing 20% of adult productivity. We believe that high-quality early years education should be a given. But we want to use it as a vehicle to achieve much, much more.
Free up Parents
Beyond what we can do for the child, we cannot forget the challenges that the most important people in their lives - parents - face every day. Parenting is tough work that is getting tougher by the day, driving parents to actively choose to not have children in many cases.
And that's not right - we want to be a service that can help our working families be the best parents they can be whilst delivering on their careers and themselves but providing them with the support to take the pain out of parenting. Because parenting can be punishing. And it doesn't need to be.
