What Our Days Look Like

We understand that every child learns at their own pace, and in their own way. At our bilingual nursery in Canada Water, we ensure that each child will be in a group appropriate for their needs, with our rooms for children aged 6 months to 5 years old divided by not only age but also by the stage of their development.

Hatchlings

Hatchlings are the youngest children in our nursery. The group is for pre-mobile babies, up to when they are walking and starting to talk. We provide a sensory-rich and stimulating environment for them to develop their basic motor skills and foster an understanding of the world through fun songs, rhymes and activities. We introduce our hatchlings to both Chinese and English from the go, so by the time they join Baby Dragons, they can speak up to 20 words in either language.

Baby Dragons

Baby Dragons is a group for children who are just beginning to master walking, talking and understanding their environment. As they learn to interact with the world around them, gaining more control over their actions, through grasp and touch, we teach them how to both manage their movements and develop an understanding of risk. We aim for children in this group to comprehend between 20-150 words, in either Chinese or English, acquired through fun language activities such as song and rhyme.

Blue Dragons

Blue Dragons are at the stage of development where they are beginning to understand concepts such as possession and ownership, as well as values such as respect and compassion. At this stage, we educate them about establishing boundaries and responsibility. Further, children in this group are introduced to the more “academic” areas of development, with guided reading and writing activities. We foster numerical comprehension, encouraging our toddlers to recite numbers in sequence and to begin writing them down. Blue Dragons have the most rapid acquisition and verbalisation of vocabulary, being able to recognise anywhere between 250-1000 words in English or Chinese.

Dragon Flight

Our Dragon Flight children are fostering the skills necessary to succeed at primary school, such as the ability to express advanced concepts such as weight, time and distance, as well as concepts such as shape and space, which will enable them to proceed to more complex challenges and problems later. They are able to speak between 1000-2500 words in Chinese and English and to count in sequence and recognise numerals beyond 20.
Our goal is to ensure that your child leaves us able to express their thoughts and feelings with confidence and ease, with established friendships and an appreciation for other people, customs and cultures. We aim to develop well balanced, socially engaged and open minded individuals.
