Exploring Autumn Through Water Play

Our Hatchlings engaged in an autumn-themed water play activity that offered rich sensory experiences. The tuff tray was filled with natural treasures — leaves, pinecones, acorns, and tiny pumpkins. The children loved splashing, pouring, and feeling the different textures, using scoops and cups to experiment with movement and sound. This simple yet engaging exploration supported both fine and gross motor development while helping children connect with the changing season.

Mark-Making with Natural Materials

The babies also explored creative mark-making using playdough alongside natural objects like pinecones, acorns, and leaves. By pressing, rolling, and stamping these materials, they discovered unique patterns and imprints. This hands-on sensory activity encouraged curiosity, strengthened fine motor control, and nurtured creativity as they explored cause and effect through play.

Music and Movement with Miss Molly

Music Time with Miss Molly was full of rhythm and giggles this week! Continuing our autumn and Halloween theme, the children wore witch hats and sang along to festive songs. Through movement activities, they identified body parts, stretched high, reached low, and moved in time with the music. The session ended with a joyful parachute play, where the children worked together, watching the colourful fabric float above them — a wonderful moment of teamwork and fun.

Regional Theme: Exploring North America

As part of our regional focus on North America, the children took part in a creative colouring activity. Using a large paper outline of the continent, they explored colours and patterns with crayons, expressing themselves through broad strokes and vibrant marks. This sensory and fine motor activity supported coordination and artistic confidence while introducing our youngest learners to geography in a playful, age-appropriate way.

We can’t wait to share more adventures with you next week!

Mandarin Fun & Boat Adventures!

Our little learners set sail on a Mandarin adventure, discovering the word for “boat” — 船 (chuán). Using a sensory tuff tray filled with sparkling blue water, glitter, pom-poms, and origami boats, the children explored how boats float while engaging their senses. The activity beautifully combined language learning with fine motor development, leaving everyone smiling and inspired.

Celebrating Diversity – Regional Activity

In honour of Black History Month, the Blue Dragons explored the theme of identity and self-expression. Each child created a face collage using colourful shapes, pipe cleaners, and googly eyes to represent their unique features. This creative task sparked warm conversations about what makes us special, celebrating diversity and belonging in a fun and meaningful way.

Specialist Teachers Spotlight

Miss Molly’s Music & Movement

The children experienced the joy of autumn through song, dance, and relaxation. They sang cheerful tunes like “5 Little Speckled Frogs”, tossed autumn leaves, and ended with gentle yoga stretches in “Happy Baby Pose.” The session encouraged rhythm, mindfulness, and laughter — a perfect balance of energy and calm.

Sporty Minis in Action!

Our Sporty Minis session was bursting with enthusiasm! The children stretched, played a colour-matching cone game, and took on the floor ladder challenge — boosting their coordination, teamwork, and confidence. Every jump and giggle showed just how much fun learning through movement can be.

We can’t wait to share more adventures with you next week!

Black History Month

In honour of Black History Month, the children learned about Garrett Morgan, the inventor of the traffic light. They created their own colourful traffic lights using red, yellow, and green paper circles — an engaging way to practise colour recognition, sequencing, and creativity. The fun continued with a traditional African game that promoted teamwork, turn-taking, and cultural appreciation through play.

Seasonal & Festival Activities

To celebrate Halloween, the children designed festive bracelets with pumpkin, bat, and ghost-shaped beads, supporting fine motor and pattern recognition skills. They then practised letter tracing to strengthen early literacy and handwriting foundations. The week ended on a peaceful note with Miss Molly’s calming yoga session, encouraging mindfulness, body awareness, and emotional regulation.

STEM Learning

Our little scientists began a planting project, growing chamomile seeds on cotton balls and discussing what plants need to thrive — light, water, and care. This hands-on experience fostered curiosity, observation, and responsibility. Later, children reinforced numeracy by forming numbers with playdough — a fun, tactile way to build number recognition and fine motor skills.

Specialist Teacher – Sporty Minis

Sporty Minis sessions were filled with energy and teamwork! The children enjoyed games that encouraged running, jumping, balancing, and coordination. Each activity supported resilience, social skills, and physical development, with everyone cheering on their friends and celebrating each other’s achievements.

Library Visit

During library time, the children listened attentively to storybooks and joined in with rhymes and songs. These sessions supported listening, attention, and language development — all essential foundations for early communication and literacy success.

Mandarin Learning 🚌✈️

This month’s Mandarin focus was on transportation, with new words like car, airplane, bike, and bus. Through a fun and rhythmic song, the children practised pronunciation and movement, helping them connect words with real-world experiences.

It was a week filled with creativity, cultural discovery, and new learning. We are so proud of how our Dragon Flight group explored Egypt with such curiosity and joy!
