Hatchlings Newsletter
Theme of the Week: Winter Creativity, Cultural Discovery & Meaningful Reflection
This week, our Hatchlings explored winter-themed art, South American culture, sensory-rich activities, and a meaningful Remembrance Day reflection. Through creativity, music, language learning, and hands-on exploration, the children strengthened their fine motor skills, communication, imagination, and emotional understanding.
Come see how our Hatchlings grow through language, discovery, and creativity.
Modern Languages
The children created beautiful igloo paintings using Lego bricks dipped in white paint, stamping to make snowy blocks and falling snow. Alongside this, they learned new Mandarin vocabulary: igloo (冰屋 bīng wū) and snow (雪 xuě), blending creativity with early language development.
Regional Education
Our South American journey continued with a Brazilian sand sensory activity, using green, yellow, and blue sand to explore patterns while learning Mandarin colour words (绿色, 黄色, 蓝色).
The children also decorated colourful Brazilian parrots, learning the Mandarin word parrot (鹦鹉 yīng wǔ), and created rainforest sticks filled with rice, pasta, and pom poms—experimenting with sound and rhythm in a playful musical exploration.
Remembrance Day
To honour Remembrance Day, the Hatchlings shaped red and black playdough into poppies, introducing the meaning of this symbol in a gentle way. Later, they helped create a large poppy tuff tray using sand and artificial snow, exploring textures and patterns while building sensory and fine motor skills.
Specialist Teacher
In our specialist session, the children enjoyed singing “In the Jungle” and “Zoom, Zoom, Zoom”, dancing, and exploring rhythm. They also loved Magic Light play, Peekaboo, Parachute Play, and bubbles, supporting social skills, sensory engagement, and joyful movement.
Thank you to all our wonderful families for your continued support — we can’t wait for more adventures next week!
Blue Dragons Newsletter
Theme of the Week: Music, Mandarin & Meaningful Celebrations
This week, our Blue Dragons explored creativity through musical play, colourful Mandarin learning, and hands-on celebrations for Remembrance Day. Through rhythm, language, balance, and sensory crafts, the children strengthened their fine motor skills, communication, imagination, and coordination.

South American Rice Shakers
The children had an exciting time creating their own rice shakers using colourful card tubes. They carefully poured rice, practised turn-taking, and strengthened their fine motor skills. Once completed, they explored different sounds, speeds, and rhythms, enjoying a lively musical experience together.
Modern Languages
During Mandarin, the children learned the word rainbow — cǎi hóng (彩虹) and explored its vibrant colours: red (红色), yellow (黄色), blue (蓝色), green (绿色), and orange (橙色). They used bright paper to create their own rainbows, reinforcing colour recognition while building new vocabulary in a meaningful, playful way.
In another session, the children learned the Mandarin word xīng xīng (星星) — star. They looked at beautiful night-sky images and then used paint and tools to create glowing yellow stars on black paper. They added stickers and cut-out stars to finish their night sky scene—a wonderful blend of art, imagination, and language learning.
Remembrance Day
To mark Remembrance Day, the children made their own poppy crafts using textured red materials on black templates. This sensory-rich activity supported fine motor skills while helping them understand, in an age-appropriate way, the importance of remembering those who help keep us safe.
Guacamole Making
The Blue Dragons and Dragon Flight groups had so much fun making guacamole this week! We learned that it comes all the way from Brazil and is made from avocados. The children scooped, mashed, and giggled as they made their own guacamole creations. Everyone loved exploring the squishy texture, and some brave taste-testers even gave it a try!
Specialist Teachers
The Blue Dragons enjoyed an active musical session with Miss Molly, singing songs like Finger Song and Little Snail. They acted out movements, popped bubbles, and waved colourful scarves—building rhythm, coordination, and joyful expression.
Sporty Minis – Balance & Coordination
During Sporty Minis, children practised balance and agility by placing tennis balls on cones, kicking gently, jumping over ropes, and weaving in and out of cones while holding ropes. These activities encouraged focus, teamwork, and confident movement through active outdoor play.
We can’t wait to share more adventures with you next week!
Dragon Flights Newsletter

Guacamole Making
This week’s cooking experience was all about guacamole!
Together, the children discussed where avocados grow and discovered guacamole’s cultural roots in South America. They explored the soft texture as they mashed avocados, compared mixtures, and some even tasted their creations—showing curiosity, confidence, and a willingness to try something new.
Remembrance Day
To mark Remembrance Day, the children made their own poppy crafts using textured red materials on black templates. This sensory-rich activity supported fine motor skills while helping them understand, in an age-appropriate way, the importance of remembering those who help keep us safe.
STEM
A highlight of the week was the introduction of our new coding bot!
Using a coding mat and direction tiles, the children worked collaboratively to plan and test routes, learning early coding concepts such as: sequencing, trial and error, teamwork, problem-solving
Their excitement grew as they watched their programmed instructions come to life, celebrating each successful path
Creative Project
Inspired by Peru’s famous Rainbow Mountain, the children worked together to build their own model. Starting with a plastic bottle base, they strengthened the mountain using scrunched paper and added bright strips of colour to mimic the mountain’s iconic layers.
This collaborative project fostered teamwork, creativity, patience, and cultural awareness.
Modern Languages
The children learned the Mandarin word for “star” — xīng xīng (星星).
They practised listening and pronunciation, then traced the Chinese character 星 and created beautiful night sky scenes by sticking golden stars onto deep blue paper. They were excited to share their artwork and new vocabulary with their peers.
Specialist Teacher Sessions
During Sporty Minis, the children practised skipping with big, confident steps and developed their throwing skills, aiming balls toward target cones. They showed excellent hand–eye coordination, determination, and lots of enthusiasm. Each successful throw or skip was met with proud smiles and cheers from their friends!
In their yoga session with Miss Molly, the children practised poses and stretches that supported balance, body awareness, and coordination. The session encouraged calmness, focus, and emotional regulation, with the children confidently trying new poses and cheering on their friends.
