🗣️ Modern Languages & Communication: Bonjour from the Puppet Family!
We kicked off French this week with our cheerful “Bonjour” song, setting a joyful tone for language learning. Children met a puppet family representing different family members, learning words like maman and papa through interactive play. With music, movement, and repetition, our little learners built early French vocabulary in a fun, engaging way.
🎨 STEAM: Bangladeshi Artist-Inspired Collages
Inspired by the colorful work of Abdus Shakoor Shah, the children created expressive face collages using cut-out facial features. This activity nurtured creativity while introducing them to Bangladeshi artistic traditions.
🌏 Regional Education Highlights
🟢🔴 Sensory Play Dough: Crafting the Bangladesh Flag
Using green and red dough, rollers, and slabs, the children molded their own Bangladesh flags—learning about shape, color, and cultural identity in one tactile, focused session.
✨ Exploring Bangla Letters in Blue Sand
Blue sand, brushes, and pom poms turned into tools for discovering Bangla letters. As they traced shapes, children enhanced both their fine motor skills and cultural understanding.
🐝 Festival of the Week: World Bee Day Buzz
To celebrate World Bee Day, our little artists used circle stamps and glitter to create vibrant honeycomb art. It was a buzzing good time, full of sensory exploration and lessons on the importance of bees.

🧪 STEAM in Action: Where Science Meets Sensory Play
Our week kicked off with a spring-inspired sensory and science session. Children explored textures and temperatures with oats-as-hay in our farm-themed tray, paired with animal figurines and storytelling about baby animals.
From there, we dove into:
Maths – counting animals
Engineering – building mini barns
Expressive Arts – reimagining farm life through creative play
💡 At Hatching Dragons, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Maths) doesn’t need to be high-tech. What matters is high-touch learning—hands-on experiences that foster problem-solving, creativity, and joy.
🌶️ Festival of the Week: Spice & Stories
This week, we celebrated the Festival of Spices, connecting children to Indian culinary traditions through sensory art.
Led by our food specialist, children:
Mixed aromatic spices like turmeric, cardamom, and star anise into colorful paints and pastes
Created story-based spice maps using brushes and hands
Discovered new textures, smells, and colors in a playful way
This vibrant exploration supported communication, cultural appreciation, and fine motor skills—all in one joyful, aromatic experience.
🧠 Learning Mandarin Through Play
In our Mandarin language sessions, children practiced everyday phrases using storytelling, flashcards, and dramatic play.
Phrases like:
“It’s okay” – 没关系 (méi guān xì)
“Sorry” – 对不起 (duì bu qǐ)
…were brought to life through native-speaker interaction and expressive movement.
These immersive sessions build more than language—they foster confidence, empathy, and global awareness.

📚 Regional Focus: Connecting Learning to Place
This week’s reading corner featured inspiring figures like Albert Einstein and Dolly Parton—regional icons who made a global impact.
Through their stories, children learned that big dreams can come from small places. By connecting local stories to global lessons, we help children see how their world fits into a bigger picture.
