Important Update!

Nursery Fees Changing from September 2025

Let’s Talk About What This Means for You and Your Family
City of London

Update Starting September 2025

As we look ahead to the new academic year, we want to share some important and exciting developments taking place at Hatching Dragons Westminster. From September 1st, 2025, a revised fee structure will take effect, as reflected in your August 1st invoice, in line with our Terms & Conditions. You can find your new fee card here.

We know any change in fees can be challenging. That’s why we want to be transparent about why we are making this change—and more importantly, what it means for you and your children.

Investing in our Team, Always

Since the April 2025 rise in the National Minimum and Living Wage, our staffing costs—already the largest part of our operating budget—have increased significantly, as have broader inflation-related costs. Rather than compromise, we are choosing to invest: in retaining and rewarding our exceptional educators and in growing our school to meet the needs of the future and so our staff will be receiving a 15% increase in their base pay for all non apprentices.

Investing in a Brighter Future: Our Next Home

We are actively exploring new locations that can better serve our families and staff—purpose-built spaces that reflect the calibre of care we aspire to deliver every day. Our current home sits within the London Wall West development zone, and while redevelopment risk looms in the longer term, this is not the sole driver of change. The truth is: we believe our children, our teachers, and you—our parents—deserve better.

Our vision is to build a nursery that works on every level: single-storey layouts for safer operations, access to green space, real buggy storage, and bespoke design shaped by your needs and feedback. And with your support through these fee changes, we can begin the journey toward making that vision a reality.

We’d love to hear from you as we explore options across:

  • Liverpool Street & Shoreditch
  • Clerkenwell, Goswell Road, & Farringdon
  • The City Fringe

Please take a moment to complete this short survey to tell us where you’d follow us to, and what journey time you’d consider to stay with our team

Keeping us Together

School Collection Points?

The team and I are keen to keep the community together and are talking through collection policies in which we could meet you out on street level with our big carriers to pick up children from drop off spots across the City as, truth be told, much of the City fringe is too costly for us to be able to open up without a healthy proportion of our community coming with us. The team and I would love to continue to care for your children and will make it our mission to make it as easy as possible to continue to be part of our family.

Subsidy Programmes

Supporting Your Family’s Affordability

We are committed to ensuring that Hatching Dragons remains affordable, even as we grow. Two government-backed initiatives may significantly reduce your monthly costs:

30 Hours Funding Extension

From this September, more working families with children aged 9 months and up will be eligible for government-funded childcare hours. Many of you will now be paying for fewer days per week, even as you retain the same high-quality care. For example, families receiving 30 funded hours year-round will benefit from two free (i.e. fully-funded) days per week and those on 15 hours / week will secure one free (fully funded) day per week when attending all year round — with fees only applying to the remaining days. Please do review the day rates applicable to those paid days in the attached fee card. Do note, we have new policies on the total number of fully funded places the schools have available and what optional extras families can pay towards to secure their space should none be left. Those monthly fees are asterisked in your fee cards

Workplace Nursery-1

Supporting Your Family’s Affordability

Having concluded our project with the London Business School, we will be proactively pushing this measure upon employers across London as a means to negate the childcare that working parents have to pay. For those of you who are not aware, the scheme allows employers to pay your fees from your gross wages, reducing your taxable earnings to minimise your PAYE and their NICs. But can also allow employers to invest in the school via a corporation tax write off and in so doing negate the fees payable by their employees even further (we would argue to zero!). Please do introduce us to your employers to initiate these conversations and let us know how we can circulate the offer amongst your colleagues to help build awareness in / appetite for these kind of benefits. You can find out more on our Workplace Nursery pages

In Summary

This moment is not just about increased costs—it’s about shared investment in a better learning environment, a stronger team, and a brighter future for our community. Thank you for your ongoing trust, partnership, and belief in what we’re building together.

If you have any questions or would like help in exploring support options, our team is always here to help.
