Canada Water
A nature-rich nursery in the heart of SE London
Our Canada Water setting is unlike anywhere else we — or most people — have ever run a nursery. Housed in the iconic Victorian Pumphouse on the banks of Lavender Pond in the heart of Southwark, this is a setting where history, nature, and early years development exist in genuinely remarkable combination.

Space
The nursery occupies a restored Victorian pumphouse — Grade II listed, purpose-refitted for early years, and designed with sustainability at its core. Lavender Pond Nature Reserve is on-site. Surrey Quays Farm is a 10-minute walk. The Cutty Sark is a short trip away.
Education philosophy
We follow the EYFS framework and Birth to Five Matters guidance, drawing on Montessori, Reggio Emilia, High Scope, Steiner and Te Whariki. No single tradition has all the answers — we take the best from each. Our curriculum is anchored to UK developmental milestones and brought to life through the 3Cs — Culture, Character and Cognition. Everything else we do, from multilingual education and World Food Day to outdoor learning and specialist enrichment, flows from that foundation.
Activities
Forest school on the nature reserve. Calligraphy classes. World Food Day every week. Monthly cultural festivals with families. Daily circle time in French and Mandarin. Arts, music, movement and storytelling — all woven into the day.
Outings
Surrey Quays Farm. The Cutty Sark and maritime museum at Greenwich. Pearsons Park. The Clipper Ferry. Canada Water Library. Local nature walks along the Thames. These aren't extras — they're curriculum.

Teachers
Trained, qualified and continuously developed to operate at specialist level. All our teachers have Paediatric First Aid and hold some of the highest qualifications in early years teaching from some of the best educational institutes in the world Our apprentices are working towards that standard. Our Level 2 practitioners are junior specialists, developing their expertise and their practice every day. Our Level 3 practitioners are qualified early years development specialists — the backbone of our developmental work, the key workers who know every child in their care and carry the developmental framework forward in every interaction. We invest in continuous training not because regulation requires it, but because our children deserve the best-qualified, most developmentally attuned practitioners in the sector. That standard is non-negotiable.
