A Week of Feelings, Fun, and First Experiences

This week in the Baby Room was full of firsts—feelings, friendships, and fun! From learning Makaton signs to visiting the farm, our babies explored the world with wonder and warmth.

If you're curious about what makes our nursery so special, we’d love to show you around. Book a Visit Todayto see the magic in action.

We began by learning about feelings through Makaton signs, focusing on “happy” and “sad” using expressive faces, soft voices, and simple gestures. Some babies tried copying the signs, while others smiled or looked on with curiosity.

Father’s Day gave us a lovely chance to share the story I Love My Dad. The babies snuggled in for story time, as we explored themes of family and love. Singing familiar songs like “I Love You, Dad” gave everyone more chances to hear new words and express themselves.

We celebrated World Teachers’ Day by creating a beautiful heart artwork with soft paint, fresh flowers, and tiny handprints—an activity full of kindness, texture, and colour. Gentle music and dancing added to the warmth of the day.

A visit to Vauxhall City Farm brought wonder and excitement as the children watched animals and explored a new space.

Back at nursery, water play in the sunshine kept things cool and fun while building coordination and sensory awareness. Our ocean-themed sensory tray was a hit, with little hands exploring soft scarves and hidden sea creatures.

The week ended with a peaceful session led by Mindful Molly—gentle stretches, calming music, and floating scarves brought quiet joy to all.

Thank you for sharing another week of smiles, discovery, and special moments with us.

An Amazing Week of Learning and Discovery

What an incredible week it has been for Dragon Flights! From phonics to castles, our learners soared to new heights—exploring, experimenting, and expressing themselves with confidence.

Thinking of joining our journey? [Book a visit] and experience the joy of early years learning at its finest.

Here’s what we’ve been up to:

Our young learners began combining consonants and vowels with growing confidence and remarkable efficiency. Their writing skills are blossoming, and a highlight was forming their names using letter stickers—an exercise in pride, precision, and fine motor skills!

We introduced simple addition this week in our math class. Using fingers and tangible resources, showing not just skill in counting but also real critical thinking as they explored number relationships and problem-solving.

In celebration of our exploration of Romania and Hungary, the children painted the magnificent blue Danube River, letting their imagination flow freely. They also created a beautiful 3D Romanian castle, complete with stained glass windows, using a famous Hungarian art technique. The results were truly stunning!

In our Makaton active class, we focused on signs like “hello,” “bye,” “more please,” and “thank you.” The children showed empathy and enthusiasm as they embraced inclusive communication skills.

As for our Indoor Games, “How many balls can you pass through the wallpaper?” and “How many points can you score?” became favourite challenges! These games encouraged teamwork, laughter, and cooperation.

Our cooking club’s Banana muffins were a hit! Little chefs measured, mixed, and baked with great care. A big thank you to our volunteer helpers!

Our body percussionists performed “Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes” over Pachelbel’s Canon. We also waltzed to Strauss’s Blue Danube and sang nursery rhymes with joy and rhythm.

In our “Human Body” unit, children used balloons and straws to visualise how we breathe, sparking curiosity and laying foundations for future inquiry.

In our mini sport sessions, we balanced balls on rackets and played “stop-and-go” using coloured cones. In mindfulness, we practiced sea-animal yoga—transforming into whales, starfish, and crabs.

We’re so proud of our learners and can’t wait for more adventures ahead!

Blue Dragons Newsletter

Big Ideas, Bright Minds: A Week with the Blue Dragons

The Blue Dragons had a week packed with discovery—from Russian dolls and letter games to science experiments and races in the garden. Each activity helped our children grow, play, and connect.

Want to see how we blend play and purpose? [Book a visit] and take a peek into the world of the Blue Dragons.

This week in phonics, the Blue Dragons turned into little detectives to help a friendly fish retrieve letters eaten by the Great White Shark. It was a playful way to strengthen sound awareness and letter recognition.

In maths, children used magnetic blocks to build colourful towers and practiced counting how many blocks they used—boosting their number confidence with lots of fun.

As part of our regional learning, we explored Russian culture by painting Matryoshka dolls. The children added sparkly sand and glitter to their creations, learning about art, history, and texture all at once.

In science and language, we mixed paint, milk, and oil to observe how liquids react, watching colourful dots form in trays of oil. Alongside, we learned Mandarin vocabulary for water, milk, and oil, blending science with language in an exciting way.

During our Sports Mini session, the children crawled, jumped, and balanced through an obstacle course, showing great coordination and bravery.

In Mindful Molly’s session, we danced like seaweed to calming ocean music while bubbles floated through the air, creating a joyful and soothing sensory experience.

We celebrated Father’s Day with an egg-and-spoon race, a puppet show, and musical statues with our amazing parents. It was a joyful, memory-making day.

Art activities this week included exploring textures by painting on foil with foam and sparkles, encouraging creativity through sensory play.

Our “I Spy” language game helped the children discover new words and match picture cards to real-life toys. They practiced naming animals, vehicles, and shapes—boosting vocabulary in a fun, engaging way.

Finally, the week ended with a cheerful buggy race in the garden. Children raced with big smiles, developing gross motor skills, balance, and friendly competition.
