My child has allergies. Will they be safe at nursery?
Before your child starts nursery, we’ll ask you to share any allergy information and how you manage this at home. This helps us make sure that everyone caring for your child understands their needs. We will review this information regularly to ensure it remains accurate and up to date.
We take a number of steps to keep children with allergies safe:
- Allergy information is clearly displayed in your child’s room, along with their photo, so the whole team is aware.
- The same information is shared with our kitchen team so that individual meals can be prepared safely when needed.
- Meal bowls and plates are labelled to show when a dish differs from the main meal being served.
- Individual place settings, with each child’s photo and allergen details, are used at every snack and mealtime.
- Our chefs maintain detailed allergen records for all food products used.
We do require written confirmation of any allergies or intolerances from a medical professional or health visitor before your child starts. This ensures we have the correct information to put the right safety measures in place.
