Tax Free Childcare
Tax free childcare is just one of the many different types of government funding support in childcare to help hard working parents with the Cost of Living. For working parents who earn less than £100k p.a., the government will pay 20p in the pound up to a maximum of £2k p.a for every contribution working families make into their tax free childcare account online. It can be used alongside the 15-30 hours free childcare provided by your local council, but unlike the 15 or 30 hours free childcare, it is not restricted by what age this benefit can be drawn from. So if you have a 6 month old baby, you're in luck. All parents need to do is go to childcarechoices or apply directly
Tax Free Childcare
The government's universal benefit that is not curtailed by the age of your child is tax free childcare. It means that for every £1 you invest into your government managed tax free childcare account, the state will contribute another 20p up to a maximum of £2000 a year. Eligibility criteria apply and you cannot use it with the workplace nursery scheme, which would otherwise provide you with a much more substantial saving in tax.

30 Hours Free Childcare
Currently a subsidy only offered to 3-4 yr old children and only for the term after they turn three, the 30 hours free childcare offer is available to working families where both parents are earning more than £167 a week but do not earn, individually, more than £100k p.a. each. The good news is that the (current) government is offering 30 hours free childcare to 2 year olds from this September (2024) and for 9 month old babies from September 2025
15 Hours Free Childcare
Currently a subsidy only offered to 3-4 yr old children and only for the term after they turn three, the 15 hours free childcare offer is available to all families, irrespective of their financial background. The (current) government is extending the 15 hours free childcare offer to two year old children from April 2024. All we need from you is a termly parent declaration signed and delivered to us to secure your subsidy from the council. Note the hourly rates change from council to council
Workplace Nursery Scheme
The Workplace Nursery Scheme is the biggest cash saving a working family can secure in childcare. It is compatible with the 15 and / or 30 hours free childcare but not tax free childcare, as it requires your employer to pay your fees from your pre-tax income (securing, as it does, a huge PAYE rebate). We've saved some families £10k p.a. from their childcare fees on this measure alone (in comparison to the £2k that tax free childcare offers).
