Please ensure that your child has a set of spare clothes and comfortable shoes at school. This helps us keep the little ones comfortable during activities and outdoor play. It’s especially important for those rainy or messy days when we’re having fun exploring!
This week has been full of excitement and learning for our little ones! We explored new activities that encouraged creativity, communication, and teamwork, supporting the children's confidence in self-expression.
This week, we’ve been singing traditional Chinese nursery rhymes like "Two Tigers" ("Liang Zhi Lao Hu") and reading simple books in Mandarin with colourful pictures. We’ve also been using gestures, such as waving hands for “hello” and “goodbye” in both English and Chinese. It’s fantastic to see them responding with smiles, babbles, and even a few little claps!
We’ve introduced the babies to a variety of textures, colours, and sounds inspired by China and East Asia. The little ones loved feeling soft silk fabrics, exploring traditional Chinese paper lanterns, and listening to sounds from Chinese instruments like the guzheng (a plucked string instrument). We also introduced the smell of jasmine tea, which the babies seemed quite curious about, with wide eyes and little noses twitching!
In the spirit of love and friendship, the babies created sweet Valentine’s surprises. They had fun hand-printing cards and decorating them using tissue paper! They enjoyed scrunching the colourful tissue paper and sticking it onto their handprint cards. It was a great sensory activity that helped them develop fine motor skills while creating beautiful, unique gifts.
Our babies had a wonderful time exploring the concept of “movement” through activities like playing with rolling balls and experimenting with water in a sensory tray. They also loved stacking soft blocks to build their own versions of pagodas or little towers. They were fascinated by how objects moved when they rolled and splashed!
We introduced the children to zodiac animals through books and toy animals, making learning interactive and engaging. We also read a book about Chinese New Year, introducing them to traditions and celebrations.

This week, we ventured into the wonderful world of Asian animals, focusing on the gentle panda, and we had a blast! Here's a quick recap of what we’ve been up to:
Our Blue Dragons had a great time this week exploring Rossini's William Tell Overture, using rhythm sticks and scarves. They showed excellent focus while counting the rhythm. Plus, they’re learning the Cuckoo Song (布谷鸟 - bù gǔ niǎo), a fun way to get familiar with the concept of telling time!
We explored the fascinating world of animals in Asia, with a special focus on the panda. The students enjoyed reading stories about this iconic bear and learned where it lives (in China) and what makes its habitat unique. This also tied into our Letter of the Week, P.
In our cooking class this week, the children had a wonderful time making pizzas! They loved spreading the sauce, adding a variety of toppings, and of course, tasting their creations. It was such a fun and engaging experience for everyone in the class!
The highlight of the week was our exciting trip to the London Parliament. Our Blue dragons were thrilled to watch the Changing of the Guard and meet the majestic horses. Their excitement was contagious!

Our crafty side came alive as our Blue dragons made heart-shaped decorations for their Valentine’s cards. We also created vibrant Chinese lanterns (灯笼 - dēng lóng) to celebrate the Lantern Festival. The children loved folding and decorating their paper lanterns with bright colours and patterns!
This week, our preschoolers engaged in a variety of enriching activities, blending literacy, math, culture, and physical development.
We kicked off the day with our weekly yoga session led by Molly. The children had a blast playing “Jenna,” where each brick had a different yoga pose for them to try out. From stretching like a cat to balancing like a tree, they had so much fun exploring their bodies. They also worked on their fine motor skills by carefully balancing stones during mindfulness exercises, which helped them relax and focus
Our Dragon Flights had a wonderful time exploring shapes this week! They picked a picture card and used different pieces to recreate it, discovering how combining shapes can form new things—like how a square and triangle can come together to make a house! The children also enjoyed a lovely textiles and weaving activity, where they created beautiful patterns on heart shapes using colourful paper strands. Their creativity truly shone through in every piece they made!
This week, our Dragon flights had a fantastic time celebrating World Radio Day! They took turns speaking into the microphone, pretending to be radio hosts, and sharing their voices with the group. It was a fun and interactive way to explore the world of radio and practice communication skills. The children loved creating their own little broadcasts, discovering how radio connects people, and sparking their imagination through storytelling. It was a joyful, creative experience for everyone involved!
In pottery class, the children got hands-on and made sticky rice balls (汤圆 - tāng yuán) out of clay! It was a fun, tactile activity, and the children loved shaping the dough into round, perfect balls. In Chinese club, they learned about the Chinese zodiac and the animals that represent each year. The children discovered which zodiac animal they were born under, and it sparked a fascinating conversation about the different animals and their meanings.
狮子舞 (shī zi wǔ) - Lion Dance
团圆 (tuán yuán) - Reunion
福 (fú) - Good Luck
This week, we celebrated a few special birthdays with our Preschoolers! We sang "Happy Birthday," shared in the excitement, and enjoyed some tasty treats together. It was a lovely time filled with joy, laughter, and plenty of smiles as we celebrated these wonderful moments with our friends. Happy Birthday to all!
