This week has been full of sensory play, cultural exploration, and joyful discovery for our Hatchlings! From feeding fluffy chicks to cooking Middle Eastern dishes, painting flags, and venturing outdoors, the children engaged their senses, practiced new skills, and had plenty of fun along the way.
Come see how our Hatchlings grow through language, discovery, and creativity.
The babies enjoyed a sensory experience feeding baby chicks with soft “worm sticks,” while exploring textures like crunchy leaves and dry grass. Along the way, they picked up new Mandarin words — xiǎo jī (chick) and chóngzi (worm) — combining language with playful discovery.
To wrap up their Middle Eastern food journey, the children worked together to make refreshing tzatziki, scooping yogurt, cucumber, and mint before proudly tasting their creation. We also began our new theme of North America, starting with the USA flag. The babies practiced colour recognition — red, white, and blue — while painting their very own flags.
The little ones got creative by rolling toy cars dipped in paint to make colourful patterns. This fun mark-making activity supported both self-expression and fine motor development.
On their walk to the Barbican High Walk, the Hatchlings spotted buses, pigeons, and airplanes, while collecting flowers and admiring the fountain. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with the world around them.
With Miss Molly, the children explored the theme of “changes in weather” through favourites like Incy Wincy Spider and Mr Golden Sun. The session ended with parachute play and bubbles — always a highlight filled with joy and laughter!
We can’t wait to share more adventures with you next week!

Regional Education
This week’s sensory trays brought autumn to life with orange water, tiny pumpkins, and crunchy leaves. The children loved scooping, pouring, and splashing while also exploring rice play. These hands-on activities supported fine motor skills and imagination, while creating lots of giggles along the way.
Outing
Our trip to the green area was full of excitement! The children enjoyed tunnels, outdoor play, and colourful windmills spinning in the breeze. Spotting airplanes in the sky led to curious conversations, making the outing a wonderful blend of fun, fresh air, and learning.
Specialist Teachers
Miss Molly’s session combined music, movement, and calm. The children sang the Hello Song, danced with yellow scarves as the sun, chased bubbles with laughter, and finished with relaxing baby yoga under twinkling starlights. It was a magical way to learn, move, and unwind.
It was another amazing week of exploring festivals, nature, and languages. We can’t wait to see where our next adventures take us!

The children were captivated by the beautiful art of Iznik Tiles, learning about their history and then designing their own colourful, patterned creations. We also began our new regional theme — North America — with a hands-on building challenge. Using blocks, magnets, and teamwork, the children recreated the CN Tower in Canada, strengthening both creativity and collaboration.
Letter recognition was brought to life through songs and flashcard games. The children sang a lively letter song, practiced sounds, and matched letters to familiar words and images. This engaging session supported both phonics and vocabulary development in a playful way.
STEM sessions were full of hands-on fun this week! The children created colourful pasta and bead necklaces, practicing both threading skills and counting. Over in our butterfly habitat, the caterpillars spun their cocoons — sparking lots of excitement and conversation about the next stage of their life cycle. Everyone is eagerly awaiting the transformation into butterflies!
The children loved their trip to Fortune Street Park, where they enjoyed climbing, balancing, and imaginative play outdoors. To celebrate National Poetry Day, we also visited Barbican Library, where the children listened to nursery rhymes, poems, and storybooks — a rich and joyful literacy experience.
With Miss Molly, the children enjoyed a calming, autumn-themed yoga session. Through guided poses and storytelling, they practiced mindfulness, balance, and coordination while connecting movement with imagination.
Our Mandarin sessions focused on colours, with engaging songs and interactive games. The children also linked colours to animals, making the lesson lively, memorable, and fun.
This weekend, the children enjoyed a rich blend of music, language, emotions, and creativity. We began with a Mandarin "Hello" song to build a warm classroom atmosphere, then introduced the four seasons with a focus on autumn through a fun seasonal song. The children explored 12 different emotions in Mandarin, discussing how they feel at school to strengthen both emotional literacy and vocabulary. During literacy time, they learned about autumn weather and activities, practicing new Mandarin words such as "autumn" (秋天) and "fallen leaves" (落叶) along with writing practice. To wrap up, the art and craft session allowed children to create colourful autumn forest prints with real leaves, explore colour mixing, and design hedgehogs decorated with leaves—making learning both creative and meaningful.
It was a week filled with creativity, cultural discovery, and new learning. We are so proud of how our Dragon Flight group explored Egypt with such curiosity and joy!
