This week in our Hatchlings room, our babies explored the wonders of North America, enjoyed Halloween-themed sensory fun, and learned about fairness and kindness through a special Black History Month activity. With playdough, tuff trays, and creative storytelling, our youngest learners engaged their senses, developed fine motor skills, and explored new languages through playful discovery.
Come see how our Hatchlings grow through language, discovery, and creativity.
Our babies had so much fun exploring our North American theme through playdough! They made pretend hamburgers with paper tomato slices, vegetables, and steaks — an engaging way to strengthen their fine motor skills while learning new Mandarin words like hamburger (汉堡 hàn bǎo), steak (牛排 niú pái), and vegetables (蔬菜 shū cài).
We also explored farm animals’ footprints using playdough in green and brown shades to represent grass and mud. The babies delighted in stamping the animals’ feet and discovering new textures while learning the Mandarin word for “feet” — 脚 (jiǎo).
To extend our regional learning, we created an Arctic-themed sensory tray representing icy North America! Using cotton pads for snow and blue water for the sea, our babies explored Arctic animals like polar bears and penguins. They loved splashing, squeezing, and discovering different textures — a wonderful way to build curiosity about nature and develop fine motor control.
Our babies joined in the spooky season with Halloween sensory play! The sand tray was filled with spiders, orange and purple feathers, and playful textures. Using tools to scoop and move the spiders helped strengthen their fine motor skills while introducing new Mandarin vocabulary — big spider (大蜘蛛 dà zhīzhū) and small spider (小蜘蛛 xiǎo zhīzhū).
They also enjoyed exploring a Halloween-themed tuff tray filled with pumpkins, leaves, and “Do Not Enter” tape! The babies loved discovering hidden objects beneath scarves and paper, building curiosity and sensory awareness.
To celebrate Black History Month, our babies helped transform a painted red cardboard box into a bus! Using their stuffed animals as passengers, they reenacted The Wheels on the Bus and learned about fairness and kindness in an age-appropriate way. This imaginative play helped nurture empathy, creativity, and early understanding of community values.
Our Hatchlings had a wonderful time in Miss Molly’s music class! Wearing witch hats, they sang Five Little Speckled Frogs and The Ballerina Song, clapped to the rhythm, and popped bubbles with joy. The magic gloves and peekaboo play brought smiles all around, blending music, movement, and sensory exploration in one magical session.
Thank you to all our wonderful families for your continued support — we can’t wait for more adventures next week!
This week in our Blue Dragon room, the children dived into the spirit of Halloween with creativity, teamwork, and joy! From carving pumpkins and exploring shapes to moving and grooving in Sporty Minis and Miss Molly’s Music, it was a week filled with laughter, rhythm, and hands-on learning. Through these engaging experiences, children built confidence, coordination, and creativity — all while celebrating the season together!

The Blue Dragon group had a spooktacular week celebrating Halloween! The children gathered around to explore real pumpkins — feeling their textures and talking about their colours before diving into the exciting (and messy!) pumpkin carving activity.
They each took turns scooping out the inside — squishy, sticky, and full of sensory fun! Using pencils, they then designed their own pumpkin faces before carving them out with help from their teachers. The children were so proud of their finished pumpkins, which looked fantastic and added a wonderful festive glow to the classroom.
On Tuesday, our Blue Dragons brought their energy and enthusiasm to Sporty Minis! The session began with lively stretches and running-on-the-spot warm-ups to get everyone moving and smiling.
Next, they practiced their coordination and speed by running to coloured cones, listening carefully to instructions and racing back with excitement. To finish, they explored ball skills — kicking and throwing with growing confidence and control.
This active session helped strengthen teamwork, motor skills, and focus — all while having so much fun together!
Miss Molly’s music class this week was full of magic, music, and movement! The children began by putting on their little witches’ hats and singing along to the cheerful Hello Song.
They then played instruments — shaking maracas, tapping drums, and strumming along — filling the room with rhythm and laughter. The fun continued as they danced and popped bubbles 🫧, giggling as they moved to the beat.
To end the session, the children lay down to watch twinkling star lights and practiced gentle yoga poses, calming their bodies and minds. It was a perfect blend of music, mindfulness, and magic — a lovely way to wrap up a wonderful week!
We can’t wait to share more adventures with you next week!
This week in our Dragonflight Class, the children immersed themselves in a world of Halloween magic, creative learning, and cultural discovery! From designing spooky monsters and carving pumpkins to exploring North America through art, it’s been a wonderful week filled with imagination, teamwork, and sensory fun.
Come see how we prepare children for school and the world beyond
Our young artists had a fantastic time making their own playdough monsters using colourful dough, googly eyes, and pipe cleaners. Each creature was unique, sparking imaginative storytelling as children described their monsters’ features and personalities.
We also enjoyed pumpkin carving, where the children explored the smell, texture, and feel of the pumpkin’s inside. They used descriptive language like squishy, slimy, and bumpy as they investigated the seeds — a perfect blend of sensory exploration and language development!
Outside, the children combined fresh air with fun learning through number activities using chalk. They traced and wrote numbers on the playground, counted natural objects, and created their own number trails. This hands-on outdoor maths play helped strengthen number recognition, fine motor skills, and collaboration — all while having fun together in the autumn sunshine!
As part of our North American exploration, the children learned about Native American art and traditions. They painted colourful tipi designs, exploring patterns, shapes, and symbols while discussing how people live in different parts of the world. This thoughtful activity helped build cultural awareness, respect, and creativity.
In Mandarin, our children explored a bubble cauldron painting activity — mixing paint, washing-up liquid, and straws to create bubbly “potions.” They printed their colourful designs onto paper while learning Mandarin words for colours and Halloween-themed objects. It was a wonderful way to blend art, science, and language learning in one creative session!
This week’s session was full of Halloween magic! Miss Molly introduced new signs like pumpkin, witch, and bat through lively songs, rhymes, and props. The children joined in with enthusiasm, using their hands and voices to express meaning while developing listening and communication skills.
Our Sporty Minis session brought lots of energy and smiles! The children practised their balance, coordination, and teamwork through exciting games. They worked hard on listening carefully, taking turns, and encouraging one another — showing great determination and team spirit.
The week ended with a spooktacular celebration of all things Halloween! From bubbling potions and monster making to spooky songs and sensory play, the children truly embraced the spirit of the season. Their enthusiasm, creativity, and curiosity shone through every activity — well done, Dragonflight!
During circle time, the children started with the “Nǐhǎo” song to create a warm, inclusive atmosphere before sharing their plans for the upcoming half-term break, encouraging confidence and active listening. They enjoyed action songs like the Number Song and “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes,” supporting counting, body awareness, and coordination.
A story about moods and emotions helped the group discuss and recognise different feelings, promoting emotional literacy and empathy. In literacy, the children explored the history and global traditions of Halloween and learned to write “Halloween” in Chinese characters, linking language and culture.
Finally, they made pumpkin baskets during art and craft, showcasing creativity, fine motor skills, and focus while reinforcing the Halloween theme.
