This week, our Hatchlings explored creativity, culture, and seasonal change through hands-on art, sensory exploration, and language learning. From celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival to discovering North American wildlife and autumn textures, the children enjoyed a week full of colour, learning, and joy!
Come see how our Hatchlings grow through language, discovery, and creativity.
In celebration of World Octopus Day, the Hatchlings decorated colourful octopus tentacles using bright paper. This activity enhanced their fine motor skills and creativity while introducing them to new Mandarin vocabulary. The children learned to say “octopus” — Zhāng yú (章鱼) — and loved repeating the new sound as part of their growing language skills.
Linking to our North America theme, the Hatchlings explored the Canadian flag by painting the red maple leaf, strengthening their fine motor control and learning the word “red” — hóngsè (红色).
They also decorated woolly polar bears with coloured water, exploring texture and coordination while learning about Arctic animals found in Canada and Alaska. These hands-on experiences encouraged curiosity about the world and built practical skills.
To celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, our little chefs made pretend mooncakes with playdough — rolling “egg yolks” and “red bean paste” layers while learning words like yuèbǐng (月饼) for “mooncake” and Zhōngqiū Jié (中秋节) for the festival.
The celebrations continued with a joyful party, where children explored glowing lanterns and created festive cards. They also learned new Mandarin words such as “lantern” — Dēnglóng (灯笼) and “candle” — Làzhú (蜡烛), blending creativity with cultural discovery.
Inspired by nature, the Hatchlings explored a seasonal autumn tuff tray, filled with pinecones, leaves, dried pumpkins, and bark. This sensory play helped develop their observation and descriptive skills as they discovered the scents and textures of autumn.
Miss Molly’s session was full of Halloween and Autumn fun! The children wore witch hats, sang cheerful hello songs, and identified body parts through movement. They then played with a colourful parachute filled with autumn leaves before ending with a calming mindfulness session under twinkling lights. It was a perfect mix of excitement, imagination, and relaxation!
We can’t wait to share more adventures with you next week!
This week, our Blue Dragons immersed themselves in the joy of discovery — learning to count in Mandarin, exploring North America through creative art, and enjoying time outdoors with their friends. The children showed wonderful focus, enthusiasm, and teamwork as they developed new skills through language, culture, and sensory experiences.

Regional Education
Continuing with our North America theme, the Blue Dragons explored the 4th of July (Independence Day) celebration through creative art! Using spiky paper tools dipped in red, white, and blue paint, they created bright and beautiful firework prints that lit up the canvas with colour and texture.
This hands-on, sensory-rich activity helped the children experiment with patterns while learning about a key cultural celebration in the United States. The finished artwork now shines like a sky full of fireworks — a wonderful display of creativity and pride!
Modern Languages
The Blue Dragons had a fantastic time learning to count from 1 to 10 in Mandarin Chinese! Sitting together in a circle, the children listened, repeated, and used hand gestures to remember each number. Visual cards and fun call-and-response games helped bring the language to life.
Outdoor Adventure
Our outdoor adventure this week was full of movement and discovery! The children enjoyed plane spotting, watching excitedly as aircraft flew overhead, sparking lots of conversation and wonder.
They also had a great time crawling through tunnels, playing peek-a-boo, and laughing together. The highlight was watching colourful windmills spin in the breeze, a lovely sensory moment that connected them to nature. It was a joyful outing that supported physical play, curiosity, and teamwork.
Specialist Teachers
Miss Molly’s session this week was full of Halloween spirit and imagination! The children wore witches’ hats, sang the cheerful Hello Song, and took part in a parachute game where they tossed autumn leaves into the air, giggling as they swirled above them.
To end, the children enjoyed a calming yoga and mindfulness moment using scarves and feathers to help them slow down and breathe. It was the perfect balance of excitement and relaxation — a magical session full of movement, music, and mindfulness.
It was another amazing week of exploring festivals, nature, and languages. We can’t wait to see where our next adventures take us!
This week, our Dragon Flight children combined creativity, mindfulness, and multicultural learning. From exploring emotions through yoga to celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival and learning about Canada, each activity supported emotional growth, fine motor skills, and cultural understanding.

As part of our North America exploration, the children learned about Canada and its national symbols. They created a Canadian flag using red handprints to form the maple leaf — a fun, sensory way to connect art and geography while enhancing fine motor skills.
This week’s Mandarin focus was all about transport! The children learned the word for “bus” and practiced tracing the Chinese character, strengthening their early literacy and cultural awareness. They were fascinated to see how different writing systems represent familiar concepts.
To mark the Mid-Autumn Festival, the children created playdough mooncakes, exploring texture and shape while learning about this important cultural celebration. The activity combined sensory play with cultural appreciation and creativity.
Bringing nature into the classroom, the children explored autumn leaves, sorting them by size and colour. This hands-on activity supported early maths concepts like sorting and classification while encouraging observation and vocabulary growth.
In celebration of Black History Month, the children discussed diversity and inclusion through stories and art. They created portraits in different skin tones, learning that while everyone is unique, kindness and respect connect us all. These moments encouraged empathy and self-awareness.
The children enjoyed a calming yoga session where they practiced gentle poses and breathing techniques. Through movement, they learned how to recognise and express feelings like happiness, sadness, and calmness. These activities supported their emotional intelligence and self-regulation.
Miss Molly also led balancing exercises, encouraging children to walk on lines, stand on one foot, and move across balance beams. These fun challenges built their core strength, coordination, and confidence in physical movement.
To strengthen hand control, the children practiced cutting along lines and shapes using scissors. This engaging exercise helped refine hand–eye coordination and supported the skills needed for writing, drawing, and self-care tasks.
This weekend was filled with music, stories, and cultural exploration. The children learned two new songs — the Number Apple Song to strengthen counting skills and a butterfly song to encourage movement and rhythm. During storytime, they listened to two engaging stories that boosted comprehension and imagination. In literacy, they discovered the meaning of China’s National Day, practiced saying “Guóqìng kuàilè” (Happy National Day), and learned its Chinese characters. Inspired by the legend of Chang’e, they then created Chinese flags and moon bunny crafts, expressing their learning through art.
It was a week filled with creativity, cultural discovery, and new learning. We are so proud of how our Dragon Flight group explored Egypt with such curiosity and joy!
