What meals are included in the nursery day?
At all Hatching Dragons nurseries, we provide breakfast, lunch, tea, and both mid-morning and afternoon snacks.
All of our meals are freshly prepared on-site each day by our trained chefs and kitchen teams. Breakfast may include options such as cereals, porridge, and fresh fruit. Lunch and tea are served as two-course meals in a relaxed, family-style setting, where children enjoy sharing food and eating together. Fresh drinking water is available throughout the day.
We also support children in learning about food in meaningful and engaging ways. Children are encouraged to explore new flavours, learn what ingredients are in the meals they are eating, and develop independence at mealtimes — such as pouring drinks, serving themselves, and using cutlery with confidence.
To enrich their cultural understanding, we also link some of our meals to the cultural themes and celebrations happening in the nursery, introducing children to a wider range of tastes and traditions from around the world.
We follow a carefully designed 15-day menu cycle, planned in line with Eat Better, Start Better, Setting the Table, and First Steps Nutrition Trust guidance. This ensures meals are balanced for nutrition, portion size, and appropriate salt and sugar levels.
Our menus help ensure every child receives the nutrients and energy they need to grow, learn, play and thrive — while developing a positive, confident relationship with food along the way.
