To ensure all families follow a clear, consistent approach to reporting absences, recording arrival/departure, and keeping the nursery informed about their child’s attendance.
Reporting an Absence
If your child is unwell, on holiday, or absent for another reason, please notify us before 8:00am on the day of absence.
Steps:

Open the EYParent app.

On the Home screen, tap Report Absence.

Select the absence dates.

Choose the Type of Absence:

Holiday
-
Sickness
-
Absent (for any other reason)
-

Add a note or description (e.g. reason, symptoms, return date).

Tap Save.
📝 You cannot submit an absence if:
-
Your child is already signed in
-
A daily diary has started
-
An absence is already logged for that day

2. Adding Advance Daily Notes
If you need to notify staff of any special circumstances (e.g. early collection, new routine), you can leave a Daily Diary Note in advance (up to 6 weeks).
Steps:

Tap the ➕ icon on the Home screen.

Select Daily Diary Note.

Choose the relevant date.

Enter your message and tap Save.

3. Signing In / Out Using the EYParent App
You can sign your child in and out using a QR code in one of two ways:
Option A: Scanning a Code Provided by Nursery

Tap Sign In on the Home screen.

Choose your child.
-
Use your phone’s camera to scan the nursery’s QR code.
Option B: Generating a QR Code

Tap Sign In > tap the icon next to your child’s name.

A QR code will appear — nursery staff will scan it from your device.
Repeat the same steps for Sign Out.

4. Timeline Visibility
All absences and sign-ins appear on your child’s Timeline. Use filters to show:

Absences

Daily diaries
-
Accidents/Incidents
-
Medicine forms
